YRC Worldwide cares. It's just that simple.
We care that you receive your shipments on-time and damage free.
We care about the safety of our employees and the driving public.
And we care about protecting and preserving the environment for a future we all can enjoy.
Damage-free shipping
The Annual Masters of Supply Chain study, published in the September 2009 issue of Logistics Management magazine showed an alarming trend. The number of shipments damaged in transit is on the rise among national and regional LTL carriers. That's one trend YRC Worldwide won't follow.
YRC, YRC Reimer, and our regional companies, Holland, New Penn, and Reddaway historically are recognized for damage-free shipping.
And we've gotten better. For example, with the consolidation efforts of YRC, shipments are touched less frequently, which is leading to a decline in shortages and damage.
As a result, November data shows YRC had 40 percent fewer claims than the industry benchmark reported in the 2009 Annual Masters of Supply Chain study.
With damage-fee shipping comes real benefits for you, including less customer dissatisfaction, fewer production delays, less rework, less costly clerical involvement to reconcile damages, and fewer adverse engagements between your customers and their clients.
Commitment to safety
The recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation banning texting by drivers of commercial vehicles, such as large trucks and buses, aims to discourage distracted driving. YRC Worldwide has long been aware of these dangers. Our operating procedures prohibit the use of cell phones, with or without hands-free technology, while operating a company vehicle without the driver first pulling off to a safe location or legally parking the vehicle.
Within YRCW, we have more than 3,500 drivers who have driven one million miles or more without an accident.
In fact, we have more than 600 drivers who have safely driven over two-million miles; more than 100 drivers who reached the three-million mile marker, and one driver--Arthur Cage--who has surpassed five million miles of safe driving.
YRCW continues to make safety a priority, and we continue to see improvement.
Year-over-year data from December 2009 reveals that total collisions are down 38 percent at YRC, 38 percent at Holland and 28 percent at Reddaway.
Similarly, preventable collisions are down 34 percent for YRC, 35 percent at Holland and 29 percent at Reddaway.
Safe, accident-free driving is good for our employees and the driving public, and it also contributes to the on-time deliveries of your shipments.
Protecting and preserving the environment
With our Destination>Green initiatives, our companies effectively and aggressively promote greenhouse gas reduction strategies through fleet and operations strategies and fuel-saving practices. In fact, we estimate the strategies we deploy to increase fuel efficiency and decrease emissions result in a reduction of approximately one million tons of CO2 annually.
At YRCW, we strive to be good stewards of earth's natural resources, and that's a commitment to our customers and our employees which we take seriously.
